Ryder’s Cup
September 13th & 14th, 2024
There is no greater honor than representing your country. On Friday afternoon, 24 of Mink Meadows finest arrived beaming with pride with the weight of a nation on their shoulders.
Unfortunately, team Europe got off to a sluggish start facing a veteran American squad on foreign soil. The household of Briguglio and Kenworthy did all they could to inspire, but the Europeans trailed 9-3 at the end of day one.
The Americans left Friday feeling confident, but not cocky. Anything could happen on Saturday with singles matches and 24 points on the line. It is rumored that European Captain Pascal Bitoun gave a speech at dinner that would make Vince Lombardi proud. There wasn’t a dry eye in the house and the Euro’s were ready to make a run at the Cup. Unfortunately, Captain Bitoun was heavy-handed with the French wine at the team dinner and once again… Europe got off to a sluggish start. The stars and stripes added another 8 points on Saturday morning and you could hear the fat lady starting to warm up. It would have taken a miracle in the afternoon matches and the US was just too much to handle.
Mitzi Lawlor and Wendy Reagan sealed the deal for the home team and the rest is history. Anticipation for the 2025 Cup is at an all-time high and Europe will be out for revenge.
